The Ten Commandments - Ps. 51

A List of the 10 Commandments

Something to think about:

Can you name the Ten Commandments?  Have you sinned against any of these?  Be honest before the Lord as you look at the Ten Commandments and ask yourself, have I gone against God, have I committed sin against my Lord and Savior?

Jesus said; The first and Greatest commandment is to Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’  And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.  2. Do not worship idols. 3. Do not misuse God's name. 4. Keep the Sabbath holy. 5. Honor your father & mother. 6. Do not murder. 7. Do not commit adultery. 8. Do not steal. 9. Do not lie. 10. Do not covet.

Take some time with this one.  Take one commandment at a time and think it through thoroughly.

Have you made anything in your life more important than God?  Is there something in your life that you value more than anything in your life?  Do you swear and in anger have you used God's name in vain?  Do you go to Church regularly?  Have you always honored your mother and father.  Jesus said he who hates his brother or is angry at him without cause is guilty of murder.  Have you looked at another woman if you are a man or have you looked at another man if you are a woman with lust?  Do you steel, even a paperclip, pencil or pen?  Have you lied or justified a lie as just being a little white lie?  Have you ever wanted something that someone else has and that could include there God given gifts?  Then you have broken the commandments.

Well, I admit, I know that I have.  May God forgive me for them as I go before the throne and ask that he reveal and sin that is before me or hidden in my heart that I might repent seek his forgiveness.  If you are a believer, and feel the need to repent before God for the sins that you have committed, Read Psalms 51.

David's' cry to the Lord our God.  It's a good place to start before the Lord and ask his forgiveness.

Psalm 51

1     Have mercy on me, O God, according to your unfailing love; according to your great compassion blot out my transgressions.

2     Wash away all my iniquity and cleanse me from my sin.

3     For I know my transgressions, and my sin is always before me.

4     Against you, you only, have I sinned and done what is evil in your sight,

so that you are proved right when you speak and justified when you judge.

5     Surely I was sinful at birth, sinful from the time my mother conceived me.

6     Surely you desire truth in the inner parts; you teach me wisdom in the inmost place.

7     Cleanse me with hyssop, and I will be clean; wash me, and I will be whiter than snow.

8     Let me hear joy and gladness; let the bones you have crushed rejoice.

9     Hide your face from my sins and blot out all my iniquity.

10    Create in me a pure heart, O God, and renew a steadfast spirit within me.

11    Do not cast me from your presence or take your Holy Spirit from me.

12    Restore to me the joy of your salvation and grant me a willing spirit, to sustain me.

13    Then I will teach transgressors your ways, and sinners will turn back to you.

14    Save me from blood guilt, O God, the God who saves me,

and my tongue will sing of your righteousness.

15    O Lord, open my lips, and my mouth will declare your praise.

16    You do not delight in sacrifice, or I would bring it;

you do not take pleasure in burnt offerings.

17    The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit;

 a broken and contrite heart, O God, you will not despise.

18    In your good pleasure make Zion prosper; build up the walls of Jerusalem.

19    Then there will be righteous sacrifices, whole burnt offerings to delight you; then bulls will be offered on your altar.
